James Voos, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and nationally renowned expert in sports medicine, specializing in advanced knee, shoulder, and elbow reconstructions for athletes of all ages. He currently is Head Orthopedic Surgery at Health Network Foundation, serves as Chairman of the Orthopedics Departments at University Hospitals and Case Western Reserve University, and was the founding Medical Director of the UH Drusinsky Sports Medicine Institute. A highly respected leader in his field, Dr. Voos is the head team physician for the Cleveland Browns, Medical Director for the Cleveland Ballet, and recently served as President of the National Football League Physicians Society from 2024 to 2026.
An avid researcher and innovator, Dr. Voos has published over 120 scientific papers, notably establishing the UH Haslam Sports Innovation Center with a $20 million gift in 2024 and helping secure a $46 million federal ARPA-H grant for biologic knee replacement development. He completed his medical training at the University of Kansas and his fellowship at the top-ranked Hospital for Special Surgery, previously serving the New York Giants, WNBA Liberty, and Kansas City Chiefs. Outside of his pioneering clinical and research work, Dr. Voos volunteers on local high school sidelines and enjoys spending time with his wife, a fellow UH physician, and their three children.
